Splendid! This might be the best photo of a 300SL I've ever seen. Way back deep into the previous century, when I was having wheels built for a race car at a shop in Laurel, Maryland, I wandered out behind the place and found a Gullwing coupe, in primer, obviously in the spot for a long time. "What's the story on the Merc?" sez I. ""Guy had me do a bunch of work on it, never picked it up, and it's been there over a year. I have the title and if you want it, it's yours for $3,800." Well, I didn't have the money (this was in the mid 60s) so another sad car story was recorded. Sigh..
